Airstrip & Hardstand Repair

Proven on a flying club runway

In short

Small airfields, aero clubs and hardstands use Rubberised Crack Filler to seal runway and taxiway cracks before they become potholes, and Asphalt in a Bag to patch broken areas. Southport Flying Club sealed the cracks in its runway with ACF-1 and has recommended it since.

Check your aerodrome operator’s pavement requirements before any repair on a movement area.

Sealing runway cracks

ACF-1 suits cracks up to 9mm wide and is applied straight from the bottle. Southport Flying Club started with the 3.785 litre bottle, then moved to the 19 litre bucket and applied it with a watering can. Read the testimonial →

Patching broken pavement

Clear the broken area, fill with 10 Gauge Mix, over-fill slightly and compact firmly. It can take traffic immediately.

Built for working sites

There’s no plant, no heating and no tack coat, so one person can make a permanent repair and reopen the area straight away. Apply it anywhere from -26°C to 49°C, in the wet or the heat, and keep sealed stock on hand for up to 12 months.

Why Asphalt in a Bag

  • Permanent. Expands and contracts with the road surface, so the patch moves with the pavement instead of breaking away.
  • Cures on impact. Curing is activated by compaction — tamp it or roll it and it sets.
  • Bonds to anything. Adheres to asphalt, concrete, steel and even wood.
  • Any weather. Apply from -26°C to 49°C, in rain, or straight into a pothole full of water.
  • No tack coat. No pre-coating or priming. Open, pour, compact.
  • Traffic-ready. Application is up to five times faster, and it can take traffic immediately.
