Mine & Quarry Sealed Road Repair

Permanent patching for sealed access roads and hardstands

In short

On mine and quarry sites, Asphalt in a Bag is used to patch sealed access roads, hardstands and workshop aprons. It needs no heating plant or tack coat, so site crews can make a permanent repair themselves and reopen the area straight away.

By the Permanent Pothole Solutions team · Updated 26 October 2026

Heavy vehicles break up sealed surfaces quickly, and remote sites rarely have an asphalt plant nearby. Keeping bulk cold mix on site means damage is fixed before it grows.

For heavy traffic areas

  • 14 Gauge compacts to 35–56mm for deeper, heavy-duty repairs
  • Lay deeper holes in compacted layers over a sound base
  • Supplied in 1 tonne bulk bags or loose by the truck load — see bulk supply

Unsealed gravel haul roads need a different maintenance approach; cold mix is for sealed surfaces.

Built for working sites

There’s no plant, no heating and no tack coat, so one person can make a permanent repair and reopen the area straight away. Apply it anywhere from -26°C to 49°C, in the wet or the heat, and keep sealed stock on hand for up to 12 months.

Why Asphalt in a Bag

  • Permanent. Expands and contracts with the road surface, so the patch moves with the pavement instead of breaking away.
  • Cures on impact. Curing is activated by compaction — tamp it or roll it and it sets.
  • Bonds to anything. Adheres to asphalt, concrete, steel and even wood.
  • Any weather. Apply from -26°C to 49°C, in rain, or straight into a pothole full of water.
  • No tack coat. No pre-coating or priming. Open, pour, compact.
  • Traffic-ready. Application is up to five times faster, and it can take traffic immediately.
